What's Up Wednesday!?!?!?!?

On April 11th, the 6th graders went on a field trip to the Gulf of Maine Research Institute in Portland accompanied by their teacher chaperones Mrs. Cormier, Mrs. Hallett, and Mr. Wallace. The Institute provides a high tech hands-on learning experience with collecting data and problem solving to learn about life in the Gulf of Maine and how it is affected by climate change. Students learn about warming water by studying the migration of lobsters and black sea bass as pieces of evidence. Students also get to measure a live lobster and determine the gender. As a special treat, the bus driver made a pit stop at the Garmin facility in Yarmouth where the class got to see the largest rotating globe in the United States. This annual 6th grade trip is completely paid for by sponsors and is a great opportunity for students.
